Susan Cain: The power of introverts | Video on TED.com.
My post, Introverts Rock!, generated some discussion about what it means to be an introvert. This presentation, by Susan Cain, the author of ‘Quiet’, brings a little more light to the matter. It’s well worth watching.

This is amazing! I listened to a little more than half and I had to go… I’ll be back to finish, but I wanted to share this.
At first, I swear, I was thinking “Anna, is too caught up on us introverts.” Um, Annie…? 1 of every 2 to 3 people you know…!
I never thought of myself as oppressed. But when I heard Susan talking about what she did to herself… forcing herself to be more extroverted, I realized.
Introverts rock! You go, girl! ♥
I thought the same when I posted it….you know, is this too much? However, Susan Cain explains it so much better than I can so I decided to go with it. No, I never thought of myself as oppressed either but I very much relate to Cain’s feelings of having to overcome the introversion, like it was an inhibitor to success in the classroom and then, later, at work. I admit, as a teacher, to having fell into the trap of encouraging the quiet children to come out of themselves. I am more aware of their needs now and will approach both introverts and extroverts differently in future, that’s for sure!
Thanks for sharing this. Where is Cain speaking next?
Thanks for this post. Please, i’m going to re-blog this. Thanks.
